APTIM currently has a career-growth opportunity for a Geophysicist to support near-surface site investigation and characterization activities at project locations throughout the United States, primarily as associated with the Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP). Typical tasks may include equipment calibration and troubleshooting, data acquisition, in-field processing, and report preparation. Strong interpersonal skills are a must, including the ability to communicate clearly and confidently, both written and verbally, to all project team members.

  • Work collaboratively with Sr. Geophysicists on proposals; provide input on survey design and scope development.
  • Field data acquisition utilizing various geophysical sensors including Metal-Mapper, APEX, UltraTEM, EM61, GPR and Magnetometers.
  • Integration of geophysical sensors with positioning control systems including RTK GPS and SLAM.
  • Assist with Site Logistics such as establishing field office and storage locations, test locations, and routes to work areas.
  • Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and testing.
  • Ensures conformance to applicable codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Applies education, knowledge, and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in strict accordance with APTIM Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Frequently support projects that require overnight travel of variable duration.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics or related field with 1-3 years' experience or Graduate of a DoD-approved UXO training course with minimum 5 years' relevant experience.
  • Experience in Advanced Geophysical Classification (AGC) data acquisition and familiarity with data processing software (e.g., Oasis Montaj) a plus.
  • Valid Driver's License with Clean Driving Record required.
  • Possess or have ability to readily obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in all types of terrain and weather, including wearing of proper PPE for work on hazardous waste sites.
