The Geomechanical Engineer II and the Geomechanical Engineering Specialist II positions both require work to be performed in-person at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix. The Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. What You Will Do Under general supervision, provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned geomechanical engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and (3) three years of Engineering experience in an area or areas relevant to assignment, OR
  • Master’s degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and (2) two years of related experience in Engineering
  • High School Diploma or GED and (7) seven years of Engineering experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Scientific discipline and (3) three years of Engineering experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability
  • Knowledge in the principles and practices of mining, mining engineering and geotechnical applications in a hard rock open pit mine environment
  • Skilled at researching, analyzing and communicating information of considerable difficulty and develop appropriate conclusions and action plans
  • Skilled in managing engineering projects related to a hard rock open pit setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to a diversely educated audience
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety of yourself and others
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

Responsibilities

  • Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned engineering project
  • Serve as Project Manager or technical advisor, on small-to-medium site construction, expansion or modification projects
  • Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
  • Collaborate in site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of Appropriation Request (AR) for capital funding
  • Review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned engineering project
  • Perform other duties as required
