About The Position

ASARCO LLC is a subsidiary of one of the world's largest Copper producers, Grupo Mexico, and ranks third in the United States in Copper production. ASARCO LLC is a fully integrated miner, smelter, and refiner of copper in the United States with over 2,800 employees spanning across five mine sites in Arizona and Texas. We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management at ASARCO & Grupo Mexico.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.
• Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level.
• Must be majoring in Economic Geology, Geology, or closely related discipline.
• No previous experience required.
• Must possess a current and valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Mine Geologists in daily office and field duties.
• Assist with pit highwall mapping.
• Assist with blasthole chip logging.
• Digital data entry into database.
• Assist in field operations.
• Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
