About The Position

The Geologist position at Yellowstone National Park involves leading a team in the Geology Program, focusing on rehabilitating and monitoring the park's hydrothermal areas and geological systems. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Degree in geology with 20 additional semester hours in related fields or a combination of education and experience.
  • At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in geological field or laboratory work.
  • Knowledge of geophysical and LiDAR data sets.
  • Experience in leading field studies and collecting geological data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technicians, interns, and volunteers in the Geology Program.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain geologic/geophysical monitoring systems in the park.
  • Conduct field mapping and other geologic field work.
  • Manage the Geology Program's equipment and laboratories.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze geologic and geophysical data.
  • Compile and disseminate information derived from gathered data.
