About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Geologist/Environmental Scientist in our Billings, Montana office to assist with a variety of tasks on projects including data management, site investigation, and remediation. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological, and geochemical data in both the field and office settings. This position is expected to begin in January 2026. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. Field work will be required, and it will include travel that requires overnight stays near project locations. The office activities will involve data analysis and preparation of investigation reports. Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology or related fields.
  • Due to the nature of work, US citizenship is required.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review and a substance abuse test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in collecting and evaluating environmental data in the field and interpreting data in an office setting.
  • Experience in preparation of investigation reports and preparation of drawings.
  • Possess technical report writing skills.
  • Provide independent leadership of self and teams in the field.
  • Possess a keen understanding of hazard recognition.
  • Proficient with basic computer programs and the MS Office suite.
