Geography, Geology, and Environmental Science Student Ambassadors
About The Position
The student ambassador will assist with recruitment efforts to encourage high school students, community college, and current ISU students to apply and accept offers to the Geography or Geology programs at Illinois State University. Duties may include interacting with prospective students at Open Houses organized by Illinois State University throughout the year (typically occurring on Fridays), organizing recruiting activities, holding tutoring hours, and reaching out to potential students through phone calls, emails, letters, and social media. Students in this position should be well prepared to answer questions related to the programs, department, and university. Ambassadors will also create and be in charge of monthly engagements for current major students. There will be training for this position.
Requirements
- Be a major in Geography, Geography Education, ESSS, Geology, or Earth and Space Science.
- Be a student in good academic and disciplinary standing at Illinois State University.
- Be available for various campus and community needs throughout the year upon request.
- Be outgoing and involved in department and/or campus activities.
- Need to be available on some weekends.
