This is highly responsible technical and specialized work involving analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of complex computer applications with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. An employee in this classification is responsible for producing and modifying and/or customizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Applications, making use of the newest Internet technologies to extend the reach of GIS software mapping and analysis tools, coordinating database structures with application systems to allow users convenient storage and retrieval of data and statistics as well as providing technical consultation and support. Contact with county, local, and state agencies may be required in order to gather and coordinate technical and land records. Work involves the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment and is performed under general supervision. Work is predominantly intellectual and varied in character as opposed to routine mental, manual, mechanical, or physical work.
