About The Position

The Geographic Information System Support Technician at the City of Dallas provides essential mapping, graphics, and ownership research services using the City's Geographic Information System (GIS). Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping experience with ESRI, ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of graphics and mapping techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of GIS applications for mapping and zoning uses.
  • Basic knowledge of photography and various software for graphics and mapping projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a GIS field or a GIS certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, designs, and drafts graphs and maps for various city agendas and departments.
  • Researches and determines property ownership for zoning and notification requirements.
  • Maintains a database on zoning and board cases, extracting information as needed.
  • Operates graphics machines and equipment to complete mapping projects.
  • Assists the public and city employees in using maps and records for quality service.
  • Conducts on-site land use surveys to gather current condition information.
  • Takes photographs to document conditions for presentations and reports.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.
