About The Position

The Geographic Area Coordination Center Dispatch Coordinator (Aviation) is responsible for coordinating emergency resources and assisting with the overall execution of activities of the Operations Section of the Geographic Area Coordination Center. This position provides operational oversight, guidance, and supervises up to 12 dispatchers during peak fire activity. The coordinator participates in allocating resources and prioritizing incidents during periods of fire and non-fire activity and prescribed/planned fires. Additionally, the role involves coordinating the mobilization, reassignment, and demobilization of resources while ensuring appropriate safety measures are taken. The coordinator also works with federal and state agencies for ordering resources through the national dispatch system to support national emergencies and provides leadership and supervision of the aviation section that directs the dispatching, coordinating, and scheduling of agency and contract aircraft, equipment, and personnel.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • This is a drug testing designated position.
  • Secondary Coverage: Prior wildland firefighting experience is required.

  • Experience in gathering predictive services information and analysis.
