About The Position

The Genome Center at the University of Texas at Dallas is seeking a full-time Research Scientist to manage all aspects of the center, focusing on Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Sanger sequencing. This role involves preparing samples for sequencing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and providing expert guidance to users of the research core facilities. The Research Scientist will also support research activities across various bioscience cores as needed.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a field directly related to research.
• Two years of experience/expertise performing research in a specified field of study.
• Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling at least eight years.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating an Illumina sequencing platform and library preparation.
• Experience operating a Sanger sequencing platform.
• Experience performing single-cell sequencing and/or spatial transcriptomics.
• Previous working experience in core laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the Genome Center.
• Prepare various samples for sequencing services of NGS and Sanger sequencing.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and records.
• Provide guidance and support to users of the research core facilities.
• Serve as an expert consultant regarding technical details of sequencing.
