About The Position

Counsels patients and families about genetic diseases, genetic testing procedures and test results; works in association with medical director and other clinicians regarding the information discussed with patients. Provides access to resources for medical interventions, grief counseling, and supportive follow-up as needed. 1 day per week at Satellite office Support pediatric oncology group monthly.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling or related field required.
• One year of cancer genetic counseling experience preferred.
• Board certified or eligible for Genetic Counseling required.
• American Board of Genetic Counseling OR the American Board of Medical Genetics required.
• Possess sufficient knowledge to interpret and discuss genetic test procedures, results, and genetic diseases in terms understandable by patients.
• Possess management skills to accept responsibility and make decisions.
• Promote and maintain compatible working relationships among personnel in the section.
• Communicate well with other healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
• Effective communication skills, including listening, writing, talking, and reading.
• Ability to maintain patience and confidentiality.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
• Ability to organize and plan work.
