The Oncology Genetic Counselor is responsible for promoting desired patient outcomes for the oncology population. The coordinator will be responsible for organizing the services available to patients based on individual patient history and diagnosis. Provides genetic counseling and coordinates follow-up services as determined by genetic testing. The genetic counselors is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team and assists in coordinating/facilitating care elements that involve genetics related issues. Provides direct counseling services and provides education and referrals for patients and families to various resources. Required travel to outpatient oncology infusion centers. Required attendance and participation in the cancer committee and acts as the genetics coordinator for the Commission on Cancer Accreditation. Responsible for maintaining compliance with standard 2.3 of the CoC standard requirements.
