You'll have the unique opportunity to establish and shape the genetic counseling program within our growing Maternal Fetal Medicine division, serving as the only genetic counselor on staff in this specialized capacity. Your expertise will be highly valued as you collaborate closely with 2 full-time Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians and multiple per diem specialists who are dedicated to providing exceptional prenatal care. You'll also work alongside a robust team that includes 3 gynecologists, 1 urogynecologist, 1 MIGS surgeon, 7 OB generalists, and 4 midwives, giving you diverse collaboration opportunities and comprehensive support. In this position, you'll provide essential genetic counseling, education, and emotional support to patients and families navigating congenital anomalies, genetic disorders, or inherited conditions, helping them understand and adapt to complex medical and psychosocial implications. You'll see up to 8 patients per day in thoughtfully scheduled one-hour sessions, giving you adequate time to deliver comprehensive, compassionate care without feeling rushed. POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for working with patients who have a possible or established personal or family history of an inherited risk for disease. The counselor obtains personal and family medical history, develops and analyzes pedigrees, determines if genetic testing is appropriate, arranges genetic testing, analyzes and interprets test results in order to provide patient care plans and treatment options. Counselors provide counseling and psychosocial support to patients and families. Works collaboratively to provide medical direction for the program.
