About The Position

The Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) supports licensed genetic counselors and genetics physicians in delivering high-quality patient care. This role focuses on administrative coordination, data management, patient communication, and case preparation to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Requirements

  • 0-2 Years preferred
  • HIGH SCHOOL
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare charts for clinical encounters.
  • Request relevant medical records and previous genetic test results.
  • Prepare counseling materials for already confirmed diagnoses.
  • Communicate with patients regarding appointment logistics and sample collection instructions.
  • Facilitate test kit distribution and specimen tracking.
  • Aid genetic counselor in literature searches relevant to the patient diagnosis or suspected diagnosis.
  • Ensure that patient insurance information is active and accurate, and that referring provider information is correct.
  • Help to coordinate genetic test ordering and uploading of supporting documentation.
  • Communicate with genetic testing laboratories regarding requisitions, billing, and sample issues.
  • Track pending tests and help to ensure timely follow-up on results.
  • Help to collate data for clinical research studies.
