The University of Washington Medicine's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is seeking a Genetic Counseling Assistant. This position provides high-level support to a team of laboratory genetic counselors and variant review scientists within the Clinical Genomic Analyst Team. The role offers the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of patient care and research related to various genetics and genomics specialties, including targeted gene panels, exome/genome sequencing, cytogenetics, and genomics related to prenatal, pediatric, and adult-onset conditions, as well as hereditary and solid tumor cancers. The Clinical Genomic Analyst team is responsible for providing technical assistance to ordering providers, triaging orders, preparing cases for sign-out, reviewing data, and drafting and reviewing next-generation sequencing and cytogenetic/genomic testing reports for germline and somatic tests performed by the laboratory.
