Bay City Electric Works is hiring for a Level 2 or 3 Generator Technician for our Sacramento/San Francisco Bay Area market to repair, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial generators. The Bay City Electric Works team provides generator, air compression, and engine solutions for life’s power needs. Offering quality brands like KOHLER® and Doosan, our experts provide solutions for data centers, water & sewer districts, healthcare facilities, utilities, military bases, hi-rise buildings, hi-tech, bio-tech, pharmaceutical, government, airports, retail, manufacturing, casinos, and residences. The Job Provide exceptional customer service to all BCEW customers Perform engine repairs and conduct electrical troubleshooting; diagnose and assess electrical problems using electrical schematics Perform repairs, diagnostic procedures and regularly scheduled maintenance on generators of all sizes Perform start-up of new generator units of all sizes, working closely with our Project Management team to allow for a clean hand-off Perform load bank or other necessary testing Document all tests and findings from 85-point inspections to provide feedback to customers Assist other technicians, train junior team members or learn from more experienced technicians Gather and present information to customers on work performed and/or needed repairs Provide end user training, as necessary, on how to operate equipment Maintain compliance with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures This is a non-exempt, hourly position which is eligible for overtime pay. Work hours are typically 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Technicians may be required to work after standard business hours and/or during the weekend to meet customer needs. Technicians can expect to be placed on the on-call rotation schedule (approximately once every five to six weeks) and will receive compensation for being on-call and for work on after hours service calls.   • Provide exceptional customer service to all BCEW customers
  • Perform engine repairs and conduct electrical troubleshooting; diagnose and assess electrical problems using electrical schematics
  • Perform repairs, diagnostic procedures and regularly scheduled maintenance on generators of all sizes
  • Perform start-up of new generator units of all sizes, working closely with our Project Management team to allow for a clean hand-off
  • Perform load bank or other necessary testing
  • Document all tests and findings from 85-point inspections to provide feedback to customers
  • Assist other technicians, train junior team members or learn from more experienced technicians
  • Gather and present information to customers on work performed and/or needed repairs
  • Provide end user training, as necessary, on how to operate equipment
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 18 months - 5 years of experience working on generators of all sizes, especially hands on experience with generators 500KW and larger
  • Engine and mechanical system knowledge and skills diagnosing generator issues required
  • Knowledge of generator control systems required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to meet deadlines and make critical decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to maintain a driving record capable of maintaining a Class C license; Class A or B license is a plus, but not required
  • Willing to travel, sometimes over night or for week-long factory training
  • Computer literate in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Flexible team player
