About The Position

The Generator Diesel Mechanic performs diagnoses, repairs, services, and modification work within OEM specification, etc. on Diesel and Gas-powered generator equipment as required. Work may be completed in the workshop or at the customer's work site, as required.

Requirements

• Technical or trade school certification in mechanical services or related instruction.
• Two to Three years' experience in the maintenance and servicing of Generators, includes Controller/gen-alternator/engine repair work or formal training in Controller/gen-alternator/ engine repairs.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain DBIDS/Rapid Gate base access.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of theory and operation of internal combustion engines and drive train components.
• Knowledge of all components of Generator operation.
• Knowledge of the methods, tools, and equipment used to perform preventative maintenance and servicing of Generators.
• Knowledge of safety practices to be observed when maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Workshop and on-site diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs of Diesel and Gas-powered Generators.
• Determine the extent of needed repair; inspect old parts to determine the cause of mechanical failure and determine parts needed.
• Overhaul, repair, troubleshoot, controllers, electrical boards, gen-alternator ends, computerized and electronic ignition systems, and engines.
• Diagnose & repair electronically controlled devices on power shovels and other heavy equipment.
• Use a wide variety of test equipment and shop tools.
• Overhaul exhaust systems, and repair exhaust after treatment systems if applicable.
• Make emergency repairs in the field.
• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of generator and trailer if applicable.
• Complete work-orders and time cards daily.
• Complete jobs in accordance with the quoted labor hour.
• Maintain workshop in a clean, organized, and safe manner. Also if assigned Service truck same term apply.
• Properly maintain company tool inventory.
• Provide excellent customer service to clients.
