Service Technician – Commercial Generators Summary Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment. Additionally, this position is responsible for technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum Qualifications Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+, proficient with preventative maintenance, retrofitting basic controls, minor ATS repairs and loadbanking equipment. All Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED equivalent, related military experience or equivalent field experience. Ability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming and replacing failed engine components. Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems, able to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction. Ability to read and decipher electronic schematics and troubleshoot discreet mechanical and electronic systems to the component level with guidance from our Product Support team. Experience with or ability to quickly learn advanced generator and electric system controls including Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment in an advanced electric controls environment. Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures. Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must observe all safety standards.

Requirements

Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+

Responsibilities

Daily travel with independent work structure.
Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call.
Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments.
Battery installations and replacements.
Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled.
Customer contact and interface.
Communicate availability status to corporate office.
Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records.
Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary.
Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary.
Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition.
Ensure that work is performed to PSS standards.
Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately.
Provide technical support to customers upon request.
Maintain Technical documentation for study and/or review.
Willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary.
Own and maintain personal set of mechanical tools.
Cross train in other areas as needed.
