About The Position

We are currently seeking a talented individual for the position of Generation Engineer (I-Sr) Mechanical at our power plant facility located in Springerville, AZ. The Springerville Generating Station operates four coal-fired units with a combined generating capacity of over 1600 megawatts of power. Although we will be retiring two of the units we operate and maintain at this facility by 2032, we continue to work together to generate safe, clean, reliable power to enhance our families, customers and communities. This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures. To provide engineering technical expertise and support at the Springerville Generating Station. This will include engineering design, project management, contract administration, budget preparation, technical assistance, and testing and evaluation of plant equipment and systems to provide optimum reliability and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Ability to travel, as required, to support the plant.

Nice To Haves

  • 0-1 years professional experience for Level I.
  • 1-3 years professional experience for Level II.
  • 3-5 years professional experience for Level III.
  • 5-8 years professional experience for Level IV.
  • 8 or more years professional experience for Senior level.

Responsibilities

  • Providing primary engineering expertise for plant group, including technical evaluations, economic analysis, drawing preparation, and all necessary document preparation.
  • The coordination and control of projects assigned to ensure they are on schedule, on budget, and complete.
  • Input to selection, evaluation and objective assignments for engineers, junior engineers, and technicians, assisting in their professional development.
  • Input to, and implementation of, group responsibility training.
  • Primary responsibility for assisting the Engineering Superintendent with the O&M and Capital budgeting and budget adherence.
  • Supervise others, work as the weekend supervisor for the Maintenance weekend coverage crew, or on plant outages and projects as required.
  • Supervise or perform equipment testing, and performance monitoring or testing throughout the plant.
  • Collect, evaluate, and provide equipment recommendations on a routine or as-needed basis.
  • Reports to the Engineering Superintendent and performs other special assignments as required.
  • Successfully complete assignments as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CIP certification.
  • Support and communicate Operational Excellence goals, objectives, vision and values.
