About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist supports day-to-day HR operations while partnering closely with leadership, HR teams, and employees to enhance the overall employee experience. This role manages a wide range of HR functions including employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, performance management, policy implementation, compliance reporting, and employee engagement initiatives. The position also supports strategic HR projects such as mergers and acquisitions, global mobility, and organizational development, while promoting the ZEISS culture, brand, and workplace values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, or related field (equivalent professional experience may be considered)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong project management and collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn American Sign Language (ASL)
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience across multiple HR functions
  • HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP
  • Experience working with Workday or similar HRIS systems

Responsibilities

  • Manage employee relations matters and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a positive employee experience
  • Assist HR leadership with special projects including M&A due diligence, integration, and restructuring initiatives
  • Support immigration and global mobility programs in partnership with HR Business Partners
  • Ensure compliance with government reporting requirements including AAP and EEO-1 data management
  • Analyze HR data and workforce metrics in collaboration with HRIS teams
  • Support employee recognition and wellbeing programs to enhance engagement and retention
  • Develop internal HR communications including presentations, announcements, and employee content
  • Contribute to employer branding, social media initiatives, and community engagement efforts
  • Research and support business intelligence and HR innovation initiatives
  • Monitor employment legislation and ensure HR practices remain compliant
  • Promote workplace safety awareness and escalate concerns when needed
