About The Position

Performs standard diagnostic radiologic procedures to include Chest, Abdomen, Spine, Extremities and skull within the practitioner's scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Completion of 12 classroom hours of instruction in accordance with the requirements of the particular State approved facility attended.
  • Appropriate clinical training of at least 8 hours with proven competency for the clinical site in area (s) of practice (e.g., Chest, Abdominal, Spine, Extremities, and Skull x-rays).
  • Current State Licensure as a General X-Ray Machine Operator (GXMO).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of General X-Ray Machine Operator experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs standard diagnostic radiologic procedures to include Chest, Abdomen, Spine, Extremities and skull within the practitioner's scope of practice.
  • Ability to operate Computerized and Digital Radiographic equipment.
  • Performs patient exams quickly and efficiently to maximize productivity, patient flow and throughput.
  • Understands the mechanics and technical components of each x-ray resource within the scope of practice.
  • Keeps resources inventories properly so that all supplies and equipment are on hand.
  • Understands the computer systems used in the department (i.e. Radiology Information Systems, CCF orders systems, CCF scheduling systems).
  • Ability to function in other capacities of the Radiology Department Provides patient care and assistance.
  • Assists the patients to provide them comfort throughout the visit.
  • Reports problems immediately to the Supervisor.
  • Assists in maintaining the flow of patients in and out of the department.
  • Establishes and maintains friendly and cooperative relations with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
