This position is open for Contractor Conversions. The role includes responsibilities for both General Technician and Process Technician Pre-Paint. The General Technician is responsible for preparing the weld area, collaborating with peers, maintaining relationships, performing checks on products, ensuring material integrity, and assembling/disassembling parts. The Process Technician Pre-Paint is responsible for preparing the paint area, painting components, adjusting spray equipment, mixing paints, identifying defects, and maintaining equipment. Both roles require adherence to safety protocols and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

  • Prepare weld area appropriately to result in good weld penetration and meets structural integrity criteria
  • Collaborate with peers to accomplish projects or tasks
  • Develop and maintain relationships with peers and customers
  • Participate in group discussions and meetings
  • Perform checks on product and process
  • Ensure material integrity by routine inspection by following established procedures and quality processes and specifications
  • Ensure piece and work output meets specifications
  • Sort and separate defective materials and parts
  • Assemble/disassemble and fasten/unfasten parts larger than hand using tools; fit, bolt, weld, cut or otherwise connect components and equipment according to specifications
  • Assemble/disassemble small parts not requiring precision alignment or small tolerances
  • Assemble/disassemble small parts requiring precision alignment and small tolerances
  • Perform any other assigned task
  • Prepare paint area appropriately to result in good paint application that meets paint specification criteria
  • Paint components using appropriate spray techniques
  • Knowledgeable on how to adjust the spray equipment
  • Prep the bus to mask the areas that they will paint
  • Knowledgeable of proper spray techniques
  • Mix paints and work with solvents
  • Identify paint defects
  • Maintain their equipment
  • Knowledgeable on basic safety precautions when handling paints/solvents
  • Perform tasks in full gear of painter's personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Perform any other assigned tasks
  • Ability to read and follow work procedures
  • Ability to work in areas that are hard to reach and in awkward positions
  • Ability to stand, crouch, climb 10 hours per day (in addition to overtime) in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment with intermittent noise, fumes, solvents and paints
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds on a regular basis and work around moving vehicles, on ladders and scaffolding, below ground level, with vibratory tools
  • This position is safety sensitive and may involve the operation of vehicles, operation of equipment, and/or involve work with power tools, or handling of hazardous materials, that could result in injury or damage to person/property/manufacturing process
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools including, but not limited to: wrenches, clamps, benders, box knives, power drills, and fastening tools
  • Ability to achieve high performance goals with changing work directions
  • Experience with body repair
  • At least a year of automotive hands on experience
  • At least 3 months of automotive painting work
