About The Position

The General Surgery Med Surg Nurse at TriStar Centennial Medical Center is responsible for providing direct patient care in a high-acuity surgical unit. This role involves utilizing therapeutic communication, maintaining a safe environment, and planning individualized patient care through an interdisciplinary approach. The nurse will also participate in performance improvement activities and may take on charge nurse responsibilities, ensuring quality patient care and effective staff management.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing
• Current RN licensure (or eligible)
• 1 year clinical experience preferred
• CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
• Utilize therapeutic communication in daily practice.
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
• Identify nursing problems as they relate to individual patient needs.
• Plan individualized patient care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.
• Provide care that fosters the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statement.
• Make staff assignments based on patient need, acuity, and staff skill.
• Serve as a role model and clinical resource for the staff.
• Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with physician, staff, or patient issues.
