About The Position

This is an initial 6-month contract position for a General Surgery (Breast) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, with potential for extension. The role is for FMLA coverage and involves inpatient and OR coverage. No call or weekends are required. The schedule is full-time, consisting of 4 10-hour shifts per week, caring for adult and geriatric patient populations. The EMR system used is EPIC. Credentialing is expected to take 30-90 days. Prior Breast Surgery experience is not required.

Requirements

Active Washington licensure
Board certification
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum 1-year General Surgery experience or equivalent
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Washington
National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in Washington
National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Order and interpret diagnostic tests
Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
