About The Position

General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)Resurrection Medical Center – Chicago, ILPrime HealthcareFull-TimePosition SummaryResurrection Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our General Surgery team. The APP will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with attending surgeons, residents, and multidisciplinary providers. This role covers inpatient and outpatient settings and includes surgical assisting, perioperative management, consults, and follow-up care.

Requirements

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Illinois.
  • National certification as an NP or PA required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience
  • Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to compassionate, patient-focused care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care to general surgery patients.
  • Conduct inpatient rounds, perform focused history and physical examinations, document progress notes, and develop care plans in collaboration with the surgical team.
  • Perform bedside procedures within scope of practice (e.g., suture removal, drain management, wound care).
  • Assist surgeons in the operating room as needed, including first assisting.
  • Manage patient flow in surgical clinics, including evaluation, follow-up, test review, and coordination of care.
  • Respond to inpatient consults in a timely manner and provide initial assessment with attending-to-attending communication.
