Requirements

  • We seek a full time general surgeon with an interest in becoming a partner in a suburban practice.
  • The candidate should be interested in practicing a wide range of general surgical procedures, as well as working with and teaching surgery residents and medical students
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery (ABMS or AOA).
  • Current and unrestricted Illinois medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start).
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Excellent interpersonal, clinical, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • We staff a suburban level one trauma center and are looking for a well-trained general surgeon to join us.
  • Case mix includes bread and butter general surgery operations along with acute care surgery and daytime trauma coverage.
  • Current services provided include a broad range of elective general surgery, endoscopy, as well as urgent surgery and trauma.
  • General Surgery resident coverage is 24/7 with benefits of an academic environment affiliated with the University of Illinois and the opportunity for research if desired.
  • Home call is 1/3 along with the option to take additionally compensated night and weekend shifts.
  • Current physicians have fellowship training in MIS, hepatobiliary, and surgical critical care.
