About The Position

Central Maine Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a General Surgeon with a focus in Breast Surgery to join our expanding surgical services team in Lewiston. This physician will provide comprehensive general surgical care while helping expand breast surgery services, including the diagnosis and surgical management of benign and malignant breast disease. The position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary cancer care environment with oncology, radiology, pathology, and women’s health specialists. Program Development Support the growth of breast health and breast cancer surgical services at the hospital. Collaborate with medical oncology, radiation oncology, and imaging to deliver coordinated care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical program development. Teaching & Collaboration Opportunity to teach and mentor residents and medical students, depending on program needs. Participate in hospital committees and clinical initiatives that enhance patient care. Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Maine
  • Commitment to patient-centered, multidisciplinary cancer care

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or fellowship training in breast surgery or surgical oncology preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Provide general surgery services including elective and urgent procedures.
  • Perform breast surgery procedures such as lumpectomy, mastectomy, and sentinel lymph node biopsy.
  • Evaluate and manage patients with benign and malignant breast disease.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and cancer program initiatives.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient surgical care.
