About The Position

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented General Superintendent to be based in the Austin, TX area. This role will provide ongoing support to water / wastewater infrastructure projects in the region while mentoring and supervising field staff. Shimmick’s National Division operates throughout the central and eastern U.S. Comprised of legacy companies, such as Morrison Knudsen, Washington Group, and others, this division has a decades-long history of delivering successful transportation, transit, mining infrastructure, and water resources projects. In addition to state DOTs and transit agencies, the National Division has delivered more than $5 billion in work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, primarily in the water resources (dams, reservoirs, locks, levees) sector. The National Division is currently delivering Oklahoma Turnpike Authority’s first build-finance project, the $260 million Gilcrease Expressway project in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent + 10 years experience in field construction supervision including 2 years experience in the Assistant General Superintendent position or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Established experience managing field operations for water / wastewater infrastructure projects.

  • Must be detail oriented, thorough, well organized and effectively manage time.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational skills – ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Consultative, service-oriented mindset, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Acubid, Hard Dollar, or similar software.
  • Excel experience.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable and overall responsibility for on-site administrative and technical management for a range of construction projects.
  • Leads, directs and manages the entire direction of construction and related activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area or a multi-discipline construction project.
  • Primary Liaison with client for day to day activities and long term operations.
  • Communicates and directs through other superintendents changes or modification of jobsite activities within assigned area of operations.
  • Accountable for compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Primary interface and engagement with Project Executive and manager group to coordinate efforts.
