About The Position

The PENTA Building Group is searching for General Superintendents to join our Mission Critical team in Phoenix, AZ ! This role will be a major contributor to our growing efforts in the Data Center/Mission Critical market sector. Relocation packages, travel stipends, and bonuses offered for out-of-state candidates. A PENTA General Superintendent is responsible for leading all field operations across one or more mission critical projects to ensure safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved. This role provides overall direction to Superintendents and field teams while partnering closely with Project Management to deliver high-performance facilities such as data centers and other critical infrastructure. The General Superintendent sets the tone for field execution, safety culture, and operational excellence across all mission critical projects.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in a senior-level management Construction Superintendent role with 10+ years on mission critical projects
  • Strong working understanding of MEP systems, including major electrical and mechanical infrastructure common to mission critical environments (UPS, switchgear, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, generators, etc.)
  • Familiarity with commissioning (Cx) activities, integrated system testing, and turnover processes
  • Degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred
  • OSHA 30 Certification is required
  • Proficiency in utilizing programs such as P6, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Build
  • Fluency in reading, quantifying, and analyzing construction drawings
  • Competent understanding of construction scheduling and sequencing
  • Flexibility and eagerness to embrace new technology and tools in the industry

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage overall field operations for multiple mission critical projects.
  • Monitor daily activities, productivity, and sequencing to ensure schedule compliance and efficient workflow.
  • Support Superintendents in problem-solving and coordination to minimize disruption to construction progress.
  • Oversee project scheduling at both the master and short-term (Pull Plan / Weekly Work Plan) levels.
  • Validate that field progress aligns with target production rates and project milestones.
  • Support corrective action planning with project teams to maintain schedule integrity.
  • Ensure field installations meet company quality standards and mission critical client requirements.
  • Oversee implementation of QA/QC plans and coordinate with the QA/QC team to confirm compliance.
  • Participate in field inspections and coordinate with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) to resolve code and inspection issues.
  • Participate in project startup and planning sessions, providing input on logistics, constructability, and sequencing.
  • Build relationships with local jurisdictions and coordinate preconstruction meetings and site logistics reviews.
  • Support procurement planning by identifying potential constructability and delivery challenges early in the process.
  • Oversee field-level document management processes including RFIs, submittals, and construction drawings.
  • Provide oversight to maintain organized, accurate field records and logs.
  • Review project schedules, cost reports, and manpower plans for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to align field progress with financial goals and staffing needs.
  • Lead field coordination meetings and participate in OAC and BIM/VDC sessions as needed.
  • Review and approve project logistics plans to ensure safe and efficient material handling and public protection.
  • Review potential change orders, field tickets, and project impacts with project teams.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and identify financial or performance risks early.
  • Mentor and develop Superintendents and field leaders to improve leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful execution of mission critical projects.
