About The Position

The General Pipefitting Superintendent leads and directs teams of foremen, pipefitters, and support staff to successfully deliver high-quality mechanical pipefitting projects. This role emphasizes exceptional safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and profitability. The Superintendent partners with company leadership and project stakeholders to align field operations with organizational objectives, proactively manage risks, and cultivate positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

  • Extensive proven experience in mechanical pipefitting, including significant supervisory or superintendent-level roles on commercial/industrial projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective team direction, client interaction, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a focus on prioritization and detail.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, punctual, and professional in conduct and appearance.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry safety regulations, quality standards, and best practices in pipefitting.
  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints, specifications, and piping isometric drawings.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with government or facility-based projects (e.g., secure sites, healthcare, or industrial) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and resolve potential issues to ensure smooth project execution and minimize delays.
  • Conduct detailed site surveys, document existing conditions, and prepare accurate reports.
  • Perform precise material takeoffs, manage procurement, and ensure materials arrive on schedule.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily field activities, including crew scheduling, material/equipment control, tool/equipment rentals, and overall site operations.
  • Collaborate with fabrication shops for efficient production scheduling and on-time deliveries.
  • Ensure accurate, timely submission of weekly timesheets and progress reports for the team.
  • Maintain and surpass industry standards for workmanship and installation quality in all pipefitting deliverables.
  • Perform regular quality inspections and audits to reduce rework, call-backs, and warranty claims.
  • Conduct client walkthroughs to verify satisfaction, address feedback, and document completions.
  • Manage project start-ups, including completion of start-up documentation, asset handover, and warranty submissions.
  • Strictly enforce company safety policies, project-specific requirements, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA).
  • Ensure all personnel use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices.
  • Document incidents/near-misses, notify leadership immediately, and lead corrective/preventive actions.
  • Partner with the safety team to perform regular jobsite inspections and promote a zero-incident culture.
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships to drive repeat business, referrals, and positive references.
  • Maintain open, proactive communication with project teams, including general contractors, engineers, architects, and owners.
  • Develop reliable subcontractor partnerships to improve efficiency, reliability, and future project success.
  • Schedule and coordinate subcontractors to align with critical project milestones.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, provide coaching/mentorship, and recommend promotions, bonuses, or recognition.
  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new team members, offering informed hiring input.
  • Lead by example to promote accountability, professionalism, safety awareness, and a collaborative team environment.
