About The Position

The General Superintendent -Pile Foundation Installation is a national-level leadership role responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and quality of all steel H-pile foundation installation operations for utility-scale PV solar power plants. This position supports self-perform field crews.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of heavy civil, foundation, or solar construction experience, with at least 5 years in a senior superintendent role.
  • Expertise in steel H-pile installation methods, pile driving equipment, and GPS-based autonomous installation systems (Trimble preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-site self-perform crews in a fast-paced EPC environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and maintenance oversight.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, geotechnical reports, and pile installation specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, training, and communication skills; proven ability to mentor foremen and superintendents.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to project sites nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee national pile installation operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and equipment utilization.
  • Manage pile driver equipment scheduling in coordination with Mechanical General Superintendents and Director of Operations, update equipment and resource schedules monthly.
  • Assign operators to specific machines to maintain equipment familiarity, track performance, and reduce QC and maintenance issues.
  • Lead the development and updating of Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) for pile installation.
  • Manage calibration of Trimble GPS systems on pile driving equipment, coordinate technician manpower for hammer calibration per site needs.
  • Oversee training and qualification of Pile General Foremen as certified GPS calibrators.
  • Ensure optimal GPS performance, including deployment of GPS repeaters to boost signal when required.
  • Support projects with pre-drill methods, bit size/drill depth selection, and pull testing to ensure installation meets performance criteria (60-120 seconds drive times).
  • Train and mentor Pile General Foremen on proper installation methods and compliance with SWIs.
  • Hire and train traveling superintendents to assist with site setup, pre-drill activities, and foreman development.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical General Superintendents to address skill gaps in pile driver maintenance teams.
  • Work with the Equipment Department to develop and maintain pile driver parts lists, GPS equipment inventories, and rigging/spare parts allocation.
  • Ensure adequate pile extensions, rigging gear, and spares are available at project sites and the company warehouse.
  • Assess maintenance quality performed on pile drivers before mobilization to the next project.
  • Participate in Mechanical General Superintendent meetings to coordinate needs and resolve issues.
  • Communicate regularly with Project Trade Superintendents to align installation crews, rigging resources, and operational priorities.
