About The Position

The General Store Cashier position involves selling General Store Inventory to the public, obtaining payment for goods sold, and working the cash register while balancing daily receipts. As a customer-focused organization, a crucial part of each employee's job is to engage with guests and serve as a Targhee ambassador. This role is essential in maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere for customers and employees alike.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Knowledgeable and skillful at running a cash register.
• Previous cash handling experience and guest service required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Providing superior service to all customers, maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic attitude.
• Greeting customers and determining their needs.
• Checking in all new merchandise, stocking shelves, and arranging displays throughout the store.
• Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of store inventory.
• Observing scheduled work times.
• Conducting physical inventories when needed.
• Handling problem customers in a respectful manner.
• Cross-training to help in other outlets as needed.
• Directing customers to the appropriate merchandise and providing adequate information for satisfactory purchases.
• Accepting payment efficiently and courteously, entering the appropriate form of payment in the cash register, counting change properly, and verifying credit card transactions.
• Balancing the cash register by counting the cash drawer at the beginning and end of the work shift.
• Verifying age when selling alcohol or tobacco.
