About The Position

This position is for relocation depending on your location. It is a full-time role with a weekend shift. The primary responsibility is to perform quality ultrasound procedures by utilizing proper positioning skills and technical factors, as well as a knowledge of anatomical structures pertinent to the patient population of infants to geriatrics. The role involves performing clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations, educating patients about the exams being performed, and obtaining consent to perform procedures when necessary. Safety practices must be followed in accordance with established standards, and critical thinking is required in daily and emergent assessments of proper protocols. The sonographer will assess each patient for proper preparation and scanning protocol for each ordered exam, follow established protocols for the Ultrasound Department, and observe safety precautions when handling patients during examinations.

Requirements

  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as one of the following: RDMS, RDCS, RVT, or RMSKS.
  • If not registered, must be board-eligible and become registered with ARDMS within one year of hire.
  • Maintains active registry status with ARDMS (30 CME’s every 3 years/annual payment).
  • Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required within six months of hire and every three years thereafter.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Performs quality ultrasound procedures utilizing proper positioning skills and technical factors.
  • Conducts clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
  • Educates patients about exams being performed and obtains consent when necessary.
  • Practices proper safety in accordance with established standards.
  • Utilizes critical thinking in daily and emergent assessment of proper protocols.
  • Assesses each patient for proper preparation and scanning protocol for each ordered exam.
  • Follows established protocols for the Ultrasound Department.
  • Observes safety precautions when handling patients during examinations.
  • Operates 2D, M-mode, and Doppler ultrasound units with appropriate transducers.
