About The Position

The General Service Worker I position at Jackson State University is responsible for various logistical and support tasks within the Facilities & Construction Management department. This entry-level role involves delivering packages, managing equipment, and ensuring the proper organization of deliveries on campus and off-campus sites.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Mississippi Driver's License
• Ability to bend, stand, stoop, crawl or smell and access small areas as needed.
• Ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and tag equipment and furniture according to State guidelines.
• Deliver packages and capital/bulk items to various on-campus and off-campus sites for the University.
• Load and unload large or bulky items on and off delivery truck.
• Ensure that time-sensitive packages are logged and delivered.
• Check vehicle for operating performance and complete vehicle reports daily.
• Organize packages to coordinate with delivery locations ensuring that all deliveries have proper attachments and notations.
