About The Position

As a General Service Engineer, you are the backbone of our store’s physical operations. You will perform high-level repairs and preventative maintenance across multiple trades—from carpentry and plumbing to mechanical systems—ensuring a safe and functional environment for our customers and teams. Technical Scope Carpentry & Structural: Maintain interior/exterior structures including drywall, drop ceilings, FRP, and fixtures. Repair overhead, impact, and metal doors, as well as dock levelers and pads. Plumbing: Full-range maintenance including setting fixtures, repairing toilets/urinals/sinks, and servicing hot water heaters and recirculation pumps. Manage repairs for PVC, copper, sanitary, and drain lines. Flooring: Perform expert repairs on VCT, Quarry tile, LVT, carpet squares, porcelain, epoxy, and concrete. Mechanical & Electrical: Apply working knowledge of low-voltage electric and mechanical concepts to repair food prep equipment and handle general maintenance requests. Digital & Administrative Excellence Efficiency is key. You will be responsible for: Managing service tickets and reporting daily time via Verisae (Work Order Management System). Utilizing Google Workspace and a Chromebook for documentation and receipts.

Requirements

  • 2 years of technical school, 5 years of field experience, or an equivalent combination of both.
  • Ability to handle code violations and ensure all corrections meet Food Safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably off ladders.
  • Strong independent work ethic with the ability to provide clear updates to management and store teams.
  • Monday-Friday 730am-4pm, overtime as required.
  • Must be flexible for on-call shifts.
  • Willingness to handle after-hours emergency overtime as needed.
  • Commitment to all company safe-work practices.
  • Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
  • Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred.
  • Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
  • If invited for an interview, must have manager approval based on performance.
