About The Position

Mustang Cat is seeking an experienced General Sales Manager to lead the Power Systems Product Support Sales team. In this high-impact leadership role, you will drive strategy, coach multiple sales teams, develop talent, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure Mustang Cat is recognized as the regional leader in product support solutions—while meeting revenue and profitability targets. This position requires a seasoned leader who excels at strategic decision-making, cross-department collaboration, and building strong customer partnerships across power generation, industrial engines, oil & gas, and related markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, or related field; OR 5+ years of industry-related experience
  • Proven supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong customer service and sales background
  • Ability to read financials, create budgets, and understand accounting principles
  • Technical understanding of engine-driven products, power systems, or industrial equipment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and business systems
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing customer needs
  • Results-oriented mindset with a history of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Demonstrated successful management and leadership of sales teams

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales Leadership
  • Provide leadership and coaching to multiple Power Systems Product Support Sales teams.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to achieve sales objectives and grow market share.
  • Lead sales forecasting, reporting, and analytics for executive leadership.
  • Set performance goals for the team and hold them accountable for results.
  • Operational & Cross-Functional Management
  • Collaborate with Sales, Parts, and Service to ensure operational alignment and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Caterpillar representatives and meet all CAT metrics.
  • Support merchandising programs, staffing needs, and process improvements.
  • Understand, support, and expand product support opportunities across assigned markets.
  • Customer Relationship & Territory Oversight
  • Direct sales coverage efforts across all assigned product markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with territory customers.
  • Resolve customer disputes promptly and professionally.
  • Participate in association meetings and customer outings to strengthen Mustang Cat’s brand presence.
  • Business Planning & Strategic Execution
  • Monitor market trends and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
  • Develop action plans aligned with Mustang Cat’s Strategic Business Plan.
  • Oversee implementation of pricing, distribution, and support strategies for assigned markets.
  • Monitor and measure plan success, updating as needed to ensure ongoing improvement.
  • Sales Team Support
  • Equip sales representatives with resources, tools, and support to maximize effectiveness.
  • Provide problem-solving solutions to satisfy customer needs.
  • Manage issues related to credit, policy decisions, and external communications.
