About The Position

The position of General Production Worker is an important role in the daily operations of our facilities. There are a variety of roles and responsibilities within this title. The types of roles available are handling all aspects of the animal including but not limited to, processing meat, trimming, verifying quality and accuracy of products, packaging, weighing and boxing, all while making safety and food safety the number one priorities.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of machinery and production operations.
  • Previous experience in meat processing and packing environment is a definite asset
  • Sustained physical effort required to move throughout work areas, climbing steps, ladders as required, and walking around equipment.
  • Must be able to identify food safety violations or product quality issues.
  • Ability to work under cold or hot conditions
  • Commitment to safety and food quality processes
  • Ability to stand and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time
  • Critical thinking, have significant use of memory and continuous learning
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and decision making skills
  • Reliable and dependable

Responsibilities

  • Work in various areas of the meat production workflow.
  • Assist in ensuring fundamental food safety and quality practices are maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives.
  • Support ongoing improvements of food safety programs.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe and organized work environment.
  • Use all safety personal protective equipment and follow all safety procedures and rules.
  • Work in various areas of the meat production workflow.
  • Ensuring fundamental food safety and quality practices are maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives.
  • Support ongoing improvements of food safety programs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment.
  • Use all safety personal protective equipment assigned and follow all safety procedures and rules.
  • Trimming to remove fat, hide, defects or contamination from muscle and tissues
  • Supporting roles in the processing of beef
  • General use of a knife or other tools
  • Weighing, labeling, bagging, packing and boxing finished product
  • Ensuring food safety and quality
  • Cleanliness and housekeeping
  • Maintaining a safe working environment
