General Production Operator
About The Position
Carlisle Construction Materials Incorporated, a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology, has immediate openings for full time production positions at the Greenville, IL location. We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications: Under crew leader/operator direction, perform a limited range of duties to process rubber and thermoplastic sheeting and flashing products and adhesive accessories. Duties may include visual inspection for defects, repairing of defects, scrapping of defective material, material handling using a forklift, hoist and bridge crane, measuring and recording of dimensional information, packaging of product, identification of product, interface with bar code system, etc. Incumbent is involved in setup and changeover of equipment, preparation of product for transfer to subsequent steps in the operation, and is responsible for the safety, productivity and quality of the operation. Incumbent will be used to fill in on other jobs in the plant as required and capable. Participate in plant initiatives such as 5S, problem solving, lean manufacturing concepts, continuous improvement, behavioral-based safety, etc. Ability to walk several miles per shift, stand for long periods, pull, reach, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, sit to operate forklift (other movements as needed to perform essential functions of the position). Job requires rotation to multiple departments and ability to fill vacancies and overtime needs in other departments. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. Good eye-hand coordination Good hearing and sight to recognize hazards, warnings, and areas where machines are functioning improperly. Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the plant. Ability to comprehend and retain standard operating procedures for all tasks. Expectation to understand, participate in, and support company continuous improvement initiatives, with focus on developing a lean mindset.
Requirements
- Manufacturing/Machine Operator experience - 2 years preferred
- Safety 1st work behavior
- Solid work history
- Ability to work up to 12 hours shifts and weekends as required
- Ability to read a tape measure and utilize hand tools and gauges
- Computer competency
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to pass a Physical Abilities Test
