About The Position

This position is a support position working in the pack-off area, slicing and mezzanine. Team Member is responsible for inspecting packages for packaging defects based on the job ticket information, place the correct packages into the cases and seal the cases as required. Making boxes and responsible for ensuring that product stacks are being properly prepared, and that product is properly graded as #1, #2, or #3 product when sliced. Will also be responsible for controlling manual palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack on pallet containers of finished products such as ham and turkey roast beef by performing the following duties:

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • The Team Member will read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • The Team Member will add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations uses units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • The Team Member will apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be willing and able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The Team Member will use both hands equally.
  • This position will require Lock out Tag Out responsibilities for safe operation.
  • The Team Member will be regularly required to stand and use hands to finger handle or feel.
  • The Team Member will be frequently required to walk.
  • Team Member will regularly bend, stoop, kneel, overhead reaching, reach with hands and arms, and grip.
  • The Team Member will be regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme cold (40-60 degrees) .
  • The Team Member will work in an environment where the noise level is usually loud.
  • Team Member rotates every 30 minutes in each one of the following 6 rotations: Placing packages into tubs(requires neck bending). Placing lids into conveyor (no neck bending required) (Overhead reaching maybe required). Placing tubs into boxes(requires neck bending). Palletizing(no neck bending required) .

Responsibilities

  • Prepare product stacks according to customer and Tyson quality specifications. (Special instructions may be included in the job ticket and/or stated by QA).
  • Know approximate weights of product for orders
  • Identify packaging defects.
  • Insert stacks of sliced product into packaging machine.
  • Rework the product that does not meet specification.
  • Remove packaging defects: open packages, low vacuum, bad zippers, missing or illegible code date.
  • Ability to sort and separate product by SKU # and label.
  • Ability to read box diagrams to determine pallet stacking and layering.
  • Assure correct arrangement and quantity of packages are placed in the case.
  • Supply empty pallets to production line for arrangement of finished cases.
  • Stop case sealer to clear jams.
  • Inform Supervisor of equipment malfunction.
  • Immediately notify proper personnel if quality issues are identified.
  • Notify the lead or operator when on the last layer when palletizing.
  • Control materials by identifiers: Correct Box number per order, illegible print on Box / POD, Labels, damaged Materials, illegible Code Date, as well as quantity of Labels per box.
  • Make Boxes to be used on line and apply Box label.
  • Supply Box Chute on line for production.
  • Load lids and tubs into chutes and run case erector.
  • Stop equipment to clear jams.
  • Inform Supervisor of equipment malfunction.
  • Move pallets of boxes, and tubs with manual pallet jack to line area as needed.
  • Clean area throughout the day as need, and at end of shift which would include but not limit to, Boxes from floor, Box Chute, and Table, unused Labels / POD’s from Boxes, and any Trash bags that need changed.
