About The Position

The Division of General Pediatric Surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, seeks a collaborative and distinguished board certified academic pediatric general surgeon with experience as an outstanding academic leader and a record of excellence in clinical practice, to serve as the next Division Chief. This is a unique opportunity to join a world-class academic pediatric health system dedicated to providing the best clinical care and outcomes for all children, being at the forefront of innovative research, and training the residents and fellows of the future. The Division of General Pediatric Surgery is comprised of 19 faculty and 29 advanced practice providers, with a large support staff. The Division provides comprehensive and nationally recognized clinical service across all pediatric subspecialties within the field and enjoys multiple internal and external interdisciplinary collaborations both clinically and scientifically. The research enterprise of the Division boasts an established presence in national and international study groups and is recognized for excellent in basic science and translational research. The next Chief will lead the Division of General Pediatric Surgery to further expand its clinical footprint in a manner that promotes the use of the most advanced surgical options, improves access for all through current and expanded delivery models and achieves highest quality pediatric patient care. This vision will be congruent with Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center's strategy to integrate the surgical sciences and further strengthen relationships with external affiliates and drive tertiary and quaternary patient care growth through new programs and partnerships. The next Chief will be eligible for appointment as an affiliate faculty member of the University of Cincinnati's Department of General Surgery. The faculty appointment is made through the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and its rank will be based on experience and qualifications in accordance with UC guidelines.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, MD/PhD degree, or equivalent.
  • Qualified for Associate or Full Professor rank.
  • National recognition as an academic leader in the field.
  • Outstanding academic credentials.
  • Experience within the academic medical center setting.
  • Ability to develop a collaborative vision.
  • Experience with leadership and management of financial and other resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting, retaining, and mentoring top faculty and students.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
