About The Position

The General Operator position at DuPont in Dayton, OH, is a nonexempt role focused on producing high-purity polymers used in semiconductor manufacturing. The operator will be responsible for controlling chemical processes, ensuring quality and safety standards, and collaborating with team members to identify continuous improvement opportunities. This role requires working a rotating 12-hour shift, including weekends and holidays, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience; experience with chemical manufacturing preferred.
  • Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime on short notice.
  • Ability to lift 10lbs frequently, 25lbs regularly, and 55lbs occasionally; climb stairs, ladders, and columns; stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel; utilize visual acuity for close work; reach overhead; hear and respond to alarms; and work in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to wear required PPE such as steel toes, hardhat, Nomex, protective eyewear, face shield, and respirator as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a related field or a manufacturing certification.
  • Experience working in 5S teams, lean manufacturing teams, or other quality/process improvement programs.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems, chemical reactions, or manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines using computer systems or semi-automatic equipment.
  • Load raw materials, transfer chemicals, package finished products, and operate/troubleshoot process equipment.
  • Ensure quality and conformance with standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain safety standards and initiate emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Adjust equipment settings to affect chemical reaction speeds, quality, or yields.
  • Monitor recording instruments and indicators to verify process conditions.
  • Collaborate with team members and leaders during shifts and at shift hand-over.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and collaborate to solve problems.
