About The Position

The General Operator I is to operate the production machines and properly measure the products to achieve all company targets and standards. Must be able to run at least 3 of the secondary production machines such as; Drill, Milling, Trim, Tapping, Crimping, Vision, Stamping, Marking, Deburr, Manual Punch Press and Auto Assembly. General Operator I must maintain the expected level of competency for production machines in accordance with skill assessments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
  • 0 – 2 years experience and/or training of manufacturing environment procedures; or knowledge of manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to Team Members of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract six digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to comprehend detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods of time, speak or listen, and walk.
  • The employee is frequently required to use eye-hand coordination, repetitive hand movement and manual dexterity use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee must frequently bend, reach to shoulder level and lift, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing level within normal/average range.
  • Team Members will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or proper footwear PPE in specified areas.

Responsibilities

  • Operates secondary production machines under supervision and after JSA trained; is able to comprehend and follow SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), work instructions, and/or special requirements if applicable, including but not exclusive to: Drill, Milling, Trim, Tapping, Crimping, Vision, Stamping, Marking, Deburr, Sorting, EDM and Assembly.
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Reads blueprint or Manufacturing Order (MO) for product specification such as; dimensions, tolerances, number or parts to be formed, and tooling instruction on type tooling required.
  • Inspects product using calipers, micrometer, scales, templates, or other measuring instruments to verify conformance to blueprint or manufacturing instructions.
  • Records information such as; in-process inspection, number of products tested, meter readings, and dates and times of work piece production.
  • Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as; burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying the department Lead person or Supervisor.
  • Operates Shop Floor System and records MO information.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance such as; changing worn accessories, oiling and cleaning machines, and adding coolant to machine reservoirs as part of daily job start/end.
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment and non-conformance issues to department Lead or immediate Supervisors and follow the course of actions needed.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, house keeping and follows safety regulations.
  • Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures
  • Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.
  • Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Works under recommended waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the manufacturing production function such as recycling opportunities to elimination or minimize production waste.
  • Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned.
