About The Position

As we expand our neurological health services across the Northwell Health System, the Department of Neurology is seeking a BC/BE general neurologist to join our multi-disciplinary team at Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) in Riverhead, NY. Northwell Neurology offers flexible positions, which includes combination of inpatient and ambulatory responsibilities as well as neuro-hospitalist roles. The Department of Neurology has seen tremendous growth over the past five years across all regions, with the goal of providing comprehensive, integrated health care and wellness services. Inclusion within the service line offers the opportunity to connect with a large group of neurologists, academic, teaching, world class grand rounds, conferences and the ability to discuss and share cases with experts in every subspecialty. At Northwell Health's Institute for Neurology, we have three hospitals ranked in the top 50 in U.S News & World Report (North Shore University Hospital being the highest at #15 in the nation) as well as four comprehensive stroke programs, 11 primary stroke centers and 1 thrombectomy capable center. The Department of Neurology, led by Dr. Souhel Najjar, a world-renowned Neurologist, internationally recognized for his clinical, research and teaching expertise has seen tremendous growth over the past five years across all regions. The department brings together the vast resources of Northwell Health and the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell to provide state-of-the-art care while contributing to advances in technology, education and research.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology.
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Valid medical license in New York State.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary healthcare setting.
  • Fellowship training in a neurology subspecialty.
  • Interest in academic medicine and research.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive neurological care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Participate in neuro-hospitalist roles as needed.
  • Engage in academic and teaching activities, including grand rounds and conferences.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to research and advancements in neurology.
