About The Position

The General Merchandise Team Leader at Target is responsible for leading the General Merchandise and Food Sales team to ensure a consistent and efficient shopping experience for guests. This role involves overseeing operations, managing inventory, and executing sales strategies while fostering a guest-first culture. The Team Leader will also focus on team development, process improvements, and maintaining high standards of service and safety.

Requirements

  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience.
  • Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
  • Help lead the understanding of operational procedures and their impact on profitability and inventory accuracy.
  • Empower the team to create a consistent experience for guests and assess reporting to identify gaps in processes.
  • Assist with execution of processes in inbound, outbound, replenishment, and pricing for select GM areas of the store.
  • Work with Closing teams to identify key priorities and ensure the store is guest ready.
  • Create a scheduling plan based on monthly and weekly business workload and guest traffic.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable.
  • Lead and coach the team to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all GM processes.
  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and modeling inclusive behaviors.
  • Create a safety advocacy culture by identifying and correcting hazards.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes.
