About The Position

The General Merchandise Team Leader role involves leading a team to ensure product is set, merchandised, and available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. This position is responsible for inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. The team also leads inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up, and pricing processes for all areas of the store. The General Merchandise Team Leader will help assess reporting to identify gaps in GM processes and assist in developing a plan to resolve them. This role requires collaboration with all teams and leaders to ensure the store is guest-ready and involves executing daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail management or leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • Ability to operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
  • Educate team on operational procedures affecting inventory management and store profitability.
  • Assess reporting to identify gaps in GM processes and assist in developing a resolution plan.
  • Lead daily execution of tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, and organizing the backroom.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations for team members and hold them accountable.
  • Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work accurately.
  • Collaborate with all teams and leaders to identify key priorities.
  • Model a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Support guest services and engage with guests in a welcoming way.
