About The Position

The General Merchandise Manager (GM Manager) at Albertsons Companies is responsible for overseeing the non-food and non-perishable department within a retail store. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service, managing inventory, and ensuring the department meets sales and operational goals. The GM Manager trains and supervises staff, maintains cleanliness and organization in the department, and adheres to company policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to multitask while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of products, product pricing, and store layout.
  • Ability to make quality decisions and work under minimal supervision.
  • Must be 18 years old and able to operate bailer and electrical equipment.

  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service as defined by the employer within the scope of the position and within company policy.
  • Train, schedule, and supervise GM/HBC stockers to ensure optimum staffing in the department.
  • Speak with customers to resolve problems with sales, dissatisfaction with service or product, or other problems related to the operation of the GM/HBC department.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the department and storage area.
  • Face shelves to company standards and change signs, tags, and prices as directed by merchandising.
  • Replace stock in displays and on shelves as needed, matching the bar codes.
  • Ensure all expired items are removed from the shelves daily.
  • Order department product and pull recalls as needed.
  • Perform daily inventory and order necessary product to maintain adequate inventory.
  • Responsible for accurate inventory procedures, including checking the load for shorts and maintaining the backroom area.
  • Maintain all paperwork in files and load stock onto 6-wheeler or use pallet jack to move merchandise.
  • Push loaded 6-wheeler to appropriate area and open cases to carry product to display area.
  • Return excessive stock to back room and complete BRI.
  • Responsible for security of sensitive, high dollar product, ensuring it is tagged and placed in a secure area.
  • Adhere to Federal, State, and local laws, ensuring that displays, shelves, and backroom areas are organized, clean, and neat.
