About The Position

The General Mechanic position at SIRTOA involves performing various maintenance tasks within the Subways department, specifically in the MOW/Infrastructure division. The successful applicant will work independently while adhering to established policies and procedures. Responsibilities include maintenance work in carpentry, masonry, and coordinating departmental tasks as assigned by supervision. Candidates must obtain a valid CDL-B Permit within 6 months and a CDL-B License within one year of appointment, with failure to do so potentially resulting in termination. The position requires passing examinations related to the craft, and probation lasts for one year.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience in building maintenance, construction, or a related field.
• Valid motor vehicle driver license in the state of New York.
• Ability to understand and speak English over radio communications.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance work in carpentry, masonry, and other segments as assigned.
• Coordinate work within the department as directed by supervision.
• Carry out duties with considerable independence within established guidelines.
• Wear a respirator as necessary.
