About the position
The General Manager role at J&P Hospitality Management is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining high brand standards of excellence in hotel operations. The General Manager oversees daily operations, manages a team of 6-10 employees, and ensures rigorous quality and cleanliness standards are upheld while delivering world-class guest service. This role also involves participating in sales efforts and ensuring the profitability of the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the hotel's daily operations and manage a team of 6-10 employees.
- Ensure a consistently positive and memorable guest experience.
- Participate in sales efforts by knowing key accounts and actively selling rooms.
- Conduct curb-to-room property walks to identify and monitor repairs and housekeeping needs.
- Select, orient, train, and manage team members.
- Handle all assigned P&L responsibilities and ensure consistent profitability.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are completed.
- Implement payroll and inventory cost control policies and procedures.
- Manage vendor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including OSHA, EEOC, Wage & Hour, and Health laws.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a General Manager for a limited-service hotel.
- Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and hotel front desk operating procedures.
- Understanding of hotel operations, including sales & marketing, security, safety programs, human resources, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hotel law, and long-range planning.
