The General Manager will oversee and coordinate all aspects of business and operations at an assigned branch, ensuring safe, compliant, cost-effective, and efficient operations consistent with GrayMar’s objectives. This role is accountable for the branch's overall performance, including profit and loss management, sales growth, customer satisfaction, and budget requirements. Additionally, the GM is responsible for managing all personnel at the location, including hiring, training, and career development.

Requirements

  • A.S./A.A. degree or equivalent training and certifications in HAZWOPER/Environmental industry
  • 10+ years of HAZWOPER/Environmental supervisor and project management experience; or 7+ years of HAZWOPER/Environmental experience with 3+ years of supervisor and project management experience in a comparable industry
  • 10 + years driving experience with a current and clean driving record
  • 3+ years of experience with computer applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Acrobat and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to assigned Branch and Model GrayMar Values.
  • Ensure each employee is prepared and educated on Safe work practices.
  • Develop, coach, train, and promote employees. Provide ongoing feedback and motivation, including performance goals.
  • Manage assigned branch responsibilities including, but not limited to, risk and liability reduction, safety, compliance, training, employee coaching and development, personnel reviews, employee retention, growth strategies, P&L, customer relations, and culture enhancement.
  • Work with leadership to develop, support and implement prioritized objectives, strategies, and tactics to enhance branch infrastructure, safety, efficiency, profitability, and overall culture.
  • Identify, strategize and execute new and existing customer opportunities to support branch revenue.
  • Oversee and direct all aspects related to environmental remediation, industrial services, emergency response and hazardous materials transportation and disposal.
  • Complete and or support required project documentation and employee timesheets with accuracy, and in required timeframes.
  • Manage employee time daily and ensure payroll is submitted accurately and on time.
  • Support Operations Manager with coordination of employees, resources, dispatch, schedule, and management of multiple current projects, new projects, project cost tracking, customer communication and emergency responses at any given time across the GrayMar system.
  • Develop scope of work, cost estimates, quotes, proposals, project health and safety analysis, while facilitating cross-functional communication with internal/external customers and vendors.
  • Support waste management responsibilities including but not limited to profile requests and submissions, manifesting, placarding, labeling, recordkeeping, 10-day logs, waste inspections, branch Non-Haz/VSQG bulking, consolidation, re-packaging, drum in/drum out waste programs, scheduling, and as-needed use of waste management software.
  • Manage overall financials including branch budget profit and loss, forecasting, invoice reconciliation, project profit and loss analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost savings initiatives, operating expenses, and data collection for accurate financial reports to achieve annual budget targets and goals.
  • Supervise, lead, motivate, and support a large team of cross-functional team members in a time-sensitive, demanding, diverse environment to drive employee retention and ensure adequate staffing for the branch.
  • Oversee and ensure all company policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Manage employee time and attendance.
  • Work with Human Resources department on career development plans for direct reports, problem resolution, corrective actions, leadership training, and overall employee engagement and communication.
  • Ensure companywide compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support and perform general maintenance, repairs and inventory tasks, as needed.
  • Respond to emergencies as needed, 24/7, including holidays, nights and weekends.
  • Travel for emergency responses and scheduled work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
