Summary of the Position: The General Manager is responsible for providing functional leadership to Jackson Park, our 1,900 unit Class A residential rental property in Long Island City including a separate 50,000 sf Club amenity. The employee will lead and manage the Property Management team with the goal of providing the highest quality service experience to establish and foster long-term customer relationships. Additionally, the employee will work with key Senior Management stakeholders to develop and execute asset plans aligned with the overall investment strategy. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of operational and financial expertise, with a hospitality mindset and the ability to successfully lead a matrixed team.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in a similar role within residential real estate or the hotel industry (minimum of 700 units or doors)
  • Knowledge of relevant Housing Laws, Rent Stabilization laws and associated management procedures required
  • Bachelor’s degree required (with a focus on hospitality, finance, or real estate preferred)
  • Financial management and business operations experience required
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skill set, knowledge of Yardi would be considered a plus
  • Ability to travel between floors and buildings in order to effectively communicate with the team and customers
  • Experience managing a multi-layered team
  • Takes initiative and is proactive leader always focused on continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive asset strategy inclusive of an annual operating budget and capital plan, and present to internal stakeholders and partners
  • Oversee financial reporting for profit and loss variances, quarterly reforecasting, and investor reports
  • Source and oversee management of third-party maintenance contractors to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Supervise all base building capital and major repair and maintenance projects; track and manage finances for projects
  • Assist in overseeing and coordinating retail tenant buildouts on site
  • Responsible for handling emergencies and crisis management
  • Promote an inclusive and respectful community environment.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable housing laws
  • Oversee implementation of fair housing policies and ensure proper practices in leasing, marketing, and resident interactions
  • Enforce Lease and Rent Stabilization compliance as well as compliance with all local governing bodies (i.e. DOB, DOH, DHCR)
  • Ensure reasonable accommodation and reasonable modification requests are handled promptly and in compliance with legal standards
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation and records for audits and inspections
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to stay updated on changes in housing laws and regulations
  • Lead Property Management, Leasing, and Lease Administration teams to deliver a best-in-class, customer-focused experience while ensuring seamless leasing, move-in, and resident engagement processes
  • Build and maintain strong resident and retail tenant relationships to drive retention, resolve issues, and enhance satisfaction through value-added services
  • Manage and develop a cross-functional team, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and consistently upholding high operational and hospitality standards through active oversight and daily property inspections
  • Regularly review and manage resident arrears and make recommendations to asset team on pursuit of delinquency
  • Address resident concerns, disputes, and escalations in a professional and legally compliant manner
  • Collaborate with asset team to determine and implement strategy for new leasing and marketing
  • Manage the lease renewal process and review assignments, subleases, terminations, concessions and other lease related requests
  • Oversee annual rent registrations and ensure accuracy and timeliness of filings
  • Countersign new and renewal leases and lease riders
